Requirements
Requirements depend on the institution, programme, your qualifications and your nationality.
Choose a programme, check its admission requirements, and apply online through the university. Each university is a separate institution with its own process.
Your previous qualifications are assessed for recognition. According to Study in Lithuania, recognition can take up to a month or longer — so apply early.
Successful applicants receive a letter of acceptance with instructions for finalising admission and paying any required fees.
Students from outside the EU apply for a temporary residence permit (TRP) for studies before arrival, through MIGRIS (Lithuania's migration information system) and a Lithuanian embassy or visa centre. Your university submits its part of the process. Degree students apply for a TRP; a national visa (D) is only for stays of up to one year (e.g. exchange).

Ideally six to nine months before your intake. Lithuania has a September intake for all programmes and a February intake for many bachelor's programmes. Most deadlines for September fall in June, and residence permit processing takes time.
